Documents and Statements of the
Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)

We have posted here a collection of many documents and statements issued by the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), including those issued under its earlier names. [From February 1995 until January 2009 it was called the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), and from December 1991 until February 1995 it was called the Communist Party of Nepal (Unity Centre).] We have also included a section of news reports about UCPN(M) Party decisions and views, which of course are unofficial.

In a separate area on this website we have also posted articles and statements by individual leaders of the UCPN(M).

In June 2012 the more revolutionary and left-wing members of the UCPN(M) split off to form a new party, the Communist Party of Nepal — Maoist. We have a separate web page for their documents, and news reports about them, at: http://www.bannedthought.net/Nepal/CPN-Maoist/index.htm

The UCPN(M) began moving ideologically in a rightist direction a couple years before abandoning its People’s War in 2006. After that abandonment it adopted a de facto bourgeois social democratic political line, but for a few years it still claimed to be promoting socialist revolution. With its 7th Party Congress in 2013 it openly shifted to the line of promoting “capitalist revolution rather than socialist revolution” as the supposed path to communism, following the capitalist-roader in China, Deng Xiaoping. Thus, despite their name, they have not actually been a “Maoist” party for many years now.

Within each section here the most recent documents are at the top. If you know of additional documents or statements which should be posted here, or have any comments or suggestions, please contact us at: freespeech@bannedthought.net

— NOTICE —

Due to the repressive legislation and judicial decisions in the United States, we at BANNEDTHOUGHT.NET want to make it completely clear that we do not have any connection whatsoever with the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), or with any other party in Nepal or any other country for that matter. We do not aid, promote, assist, support, coordinate with, or provide any sort of services or advice to the UCPN(Maoist) or to any other party. However, we do support the right of free speech, and the right of the people in both Nepal and internationally to read the views and publications of this and all other parties and organizations. For this reason we do object to the de facto suppression of the views and ideas put forward by the UCPN(Maoist), either past or present. And for this reason alone we are making copies of many UCPN(Maoist) documents available on this site, along with those by many of its leaders, critics and other commentators.
